Something awful happened here last night. My dog (yorkie) Billy, went crazy last night as Paul came to bed. I was fast asleep and apparently Billy just launched himself at Paul's feet and started really biting him as he tried to come into the bedroom. I had been in bed for about an hour and woke to it. Paul was laying down in the hall with the dog going crazy. Paul's foot was badly bitten and he had to kick Billy off from him. It was just like a nightmare. Paul's foot bleeding badly and Billy injured too. This all happened at about 1 in the morning. Paul was very upset and Billy crying. Ohmigod. I stayed downstairs with Billy whilst Paul went up to bed and eventually fell asleep about 3. Billy went to sleep too. This morning he was very stiff but managed his walk and when Paul came down he started growling again and I thought it was all going to start again. Paul had calmed down by the time he got up and was upset that Billy had been injured. I think Paul must have crushed him when he fell to floor trying to get him off his foot. Billy seems better this evening and is eating and jumping up and down off the furniture but is very subdued. We will see how he is going tomorrow but I think he needs to get over the shock. Paul has been stroking him and bonding again. We all feel so awful.
Hugs, Terry x

It sounds like Billy must have thought there was in intruder. They do get protective for sure. Hope they are both ok. That would be an upset for sure. I once had a dog that was very jealous of my youngest son and he was bitten badly 3 times and I had to get rid of the dog. I felt so bad, but couldn't trust him. He was a large breed and so smart. Hope tonight is peaceful. 'On Ya ' - ma

How awful Terry hopefully it was just a one off, Billy must have been spooked somehow, i'm glad to hear they're bonding again. hope Pauls foot is okay.

Oh that`s a wee shame hope they are both alright.

What a horrid thing to happen. Maybe Paul stepped on him without realising it? Hope everything returns to normal.

Wow, theres no simple explanation to that scenario. I hope both of then are ok now? Maybe Billy thought Paul was an intruder and was trying to protect you?

Hi Tells - how awful i can well imagine that you have all felt so awful. Poor Billy, perhaps he was half asleep and didn't realise it was Paul, thought he was a burglar and went into protect mode !!! And how is Paul and his injuries ? Hope the next few days go alright.

How upsetting! I wonder what caused it? Perhaps Billy was protecting you? Glad that they are both feeling better now though. How frightening!

Oh Terry! That's awful! I hope Paul's injuries aren't too serious and that Billy is going to be ok too. Like the others have said, maybe he was asleep and was startled by Paul and thought it was a burglar??? Nice to know that he would protect you but sorry he he got the wrong bad guy!!!..lol.... I hope it all works out well for all of you. Having a pet become overprotective of you (especially toward your husband!!) can be a very difficult situation to deal with. I hope yours has a happy ending!
Hugs to you
